Remade: Fashion Show - A series of workshops leading up to a fashion show.

A great deal of interest has been shown from students and teachers alike for a fashion show in Beaumont Leys, Specifically Beaumont Leys Specialist Science School and Babington Community technology College, although the workshops will be open to any young person irrespective of what School they come from in Beaumont Leys.

Glitzy, Glamorous and Ethical! A truly inspiring event to shout about in Beaumont Leys

The young people will be encouraged to include ethical/traditional techniques as well as re-using and recycling objects/clothing in their designs and manufacturing.

The main theme would be young people taking ownership and making most of the important decisions with guidance from professionals and artists.

Remade?

Remade is a fashion recycling arts project located in Leicester, England.

We are a project started in 2005 with Local Alchemy Funding, we have been adopted by Leicester North West Alchemy Ltd in 2008, a registered charity.

This will mean that we can continue to plan and deliver strategic interventions in our local area, and utilize the expertise of the directors and trustees of Leicester North West Alchemy Ltd to fulfil our aims!

Our Aims are to deliver high quality fashion/arts/technology workshops which not only engage the young person in their passion, but also brings in to the pot an element of environmental awareness and education which will inspire and educate the young persons life choices positively.

To work with and encourage partners and organisations to invest time and money in young people in the Leicester North West locale, in such a way that empowers rather than diempowers young people and gives them real opportunities for self development and confidence building.

Currently we are running a series of workshop which will culminate in the creation of a new web site created by young people from three local schools from Leicester.

It is a gaming web site which encourages the young person to think ethically when buying their clothes.

The young people are instrumental in this project and have named the project: Ding Dong Doodles which will also be the web site name.

Watch out soon for some photos and a link to the new web site Ding Dong Doodles.

Our last funded project BLING7.

Was a series of workshops at Beaumont Leys Specialist Science School and Babington Community Technology College in Leicester.

These workshops  used creative artists and volunteers from the local community to deliver high quality educational workshops to young people which they used as part of their GCSE's coursework.

Our tutors compiled evidence and experience from which further workshops and educational material is being produced, we have also created a DVD which we hope to post on here soon.
