Presenting: The Remade Team:
The tutors Involved in this fashion recycling project come from diverse backgrounds, mainly from the Voluntary/community sector but not exclusively. The Projects:Summer School Club/After School ActivityBeaumont-Leys 2008 Fashion Show - A series of workshops leading up to a fashion show. A great deal of interest had been shown from students and teachers alike for a fashion show in Beaumont Leys, Specifically Beaumont Leys Specialist Science School and Babington Community technology College.Although the workshops were open to any young person irrespective of what School they come from in Beaumont Leys, we actually had primary School children from Barleycroft and other young people from various Schools across Leicester. Glitzy, Glamorous and Ethical! A truly inspiring event to shout about in Beaumont Leys! The young people were encouraged to include ethical/traditional techniques as well as re-using and recycling objects/clothing in their designs and manufacturing. A fashion designer from London, a local fashion entrepreneur, and a student from one of Leicester's leading universities all helped our volunteers to deliver some outstanding workshops, which proved so popular we carried on until the end of November. (4 months of workshops).....................Not bad for a project which was only funded for the summer holidays! The main theme was young people taking ownership and making most of the important decisions with guidance from professionals and artists to create a piece of fashionware which they then modelled in a fashion event at Babington Community College. On the night all the participants were awarded with a certificate and a clothing voucher, this was a surprise to them all and hopefully will inspire them to take part in other positive activities in our area. Thank you to all the tutors and volunteers who made this all happen! BLING7 (Beaumont-Leys Inspiring the Next Generation 2007)One of our previous funded projects was BLING7.This was a series of workshops at Beaumont Leys Specialist Science School and Babington Community Technology College in Leicester. These workshops used creative artists and volunteers from the local community to deliver high quality educational workshops to young people which they used as part of their GCSE's coursework. designs. We delivered 15 workshops in:
Ding Dong DoodlesAnother one of our projects was an internet based web design workshop. we ran a series of workshop which culminated in the creation of a new web site created by young people from three local schools from Leicester. It is a gaming web site which encourages the young person to think ethically even when playing games, this project inspired the young people to use their creativity in a rich media internet based environment The young people were instrumental in this project and named the project: Ding Dong Doodles which is also the web site name. www.dingdongdoodles.co.uk |
